Objectives
- Ensure all customers are serviced in a timely & efficient manner.
- Maintain professionalism

- Establish working relationships with Customers for the purpose of maintaining and growing repeat business.
Essential Duties
- Keep counter displays current.
- Stay educated regarding Vendors and new products.
- Stay educated regarding new sales techniques.
- Assist and resolve customer complaints.
- Keep Purchasing Dept. aware of buying habits and requests from customers.
- Attend sales and product meetings.
- Work with Sales Manager to increase GP margins.
- Pull orders for Customers, including cutting wire, lifting pipe, carrying boxes, etc.
- Diplomatically work with Customers who don't qualify to purchase on a Wholesale level.
- Assists taking order desk calls when needed and available.
- Handles assigned accounts as requested.
- Assure continued customer business by representing him/her self in a professional manner while expediting sales.
- Handle sales and support functions for 'over the counter business.
- Maintain warehousing and stocking requirements where needed.
- Provide product information.
- Execute sales in an ethical and professional manner.
Measurements
- Counter area & lobby will always be clean with no clutter or trash.
- Warehouse area immediately behind counter shall be kept fully stocked, clean and tidy at all times.
- GP% of cash sales, will call sales etc. will remain high, and will not drop.
- How many orders per day, amount of lines, per writer, will show stability.

- Counter sales dept. will be known throughout our industry as knowledgeable & professional.
- Counter area will always be orderly.
- Counter staff will be enthusiastic and work together as a team.
- Will assist on order desk with assigned accounts as needed.
- Greet customers courteously.

- 'Sell', not just 'order take'.

Skills Needed:
- Verbal skills to be diplomatic & tactful in dealing with Customers.
- Product knowledge including lighting & switchgear concepts.
- Vendor knowledge in order to work with Rep's & Mfg's promoting products.
Abilities
- Ability to pull orders for Customers, including lifting & moving material up to 50lbs.
- Climb ladders to retrieve merchandise and put away materials as needed.
- Utilize computer skills per software package.

Cognitive Requirements
This position requires basic level of math, reading and problem solving abilities.

Computer (mainframe, Internet, MS Office software), telephone, fax, calculator, copy machine, 10-key.
Site Evaluation
Works counter sales environment, although may also spend time in warehouse locating products for customers. The sales area and warehouse has steps and narrow hallways and aisles.
